I came to Vegas for the NAPT Venetian. I only lasted about a half a day, busted after deciding to bluff off my stack with total air on a monotone board. What happened in the hand, in short, is that i bluffed into two people all the way thinking neither could possibly have flushes and would fold. The player that i thought may call ended up folding his top set on the river, but the young player behind him unpredictably slowplayed the nut flush all the way. He was an omaha pro so mabye he had been playing that too much lately. In hindsight i still think my play was good if not great.

Things may not have been going that well for me on this trip, but it has for a couple of my friends. One friend, Cy, chopped for 14k in a side event while my other friend, Tom, won the 5k main event! The player who go 2nd had the most obnoxious group of friends i had ever witnessed rail a poker tournament, so it pleased me to witness their friend blow a huge chiplead making ridiculously horrible calls. Tom is a great player and sort of a headsup specialist though so he was probably doomed to begin with.

The best part was that they wrote Tom a check for all the money. It was kind of surreal to see a legitimate check for almost a million dollars.
